Tomasz Niewodczański (born in 1933 in Vilnius, died in 2010 in Bitburg) is a well-known figure both in the Polish and international community of cartography historians, as well as in the circles of collectors of old maps, old prints and historical archives. The collection of Polonica collections gathered by him is considered to be the largest private collection of this type created after World War II. It includes many very rare and even unique items, such as literary manuscripts by Adam Mickiewicz or Julian Tuwim. His collection of old maps of the Republic of Poland, i.e. the lands today belonging to Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia and Estonia, is one of the best in the world. It has been presented at many exhibitions, e.g. Imago Poloniae (1981, 2002-2004), Imago Lithuaniae (2003) and Dantiscum Emporium (2004-2005). Selected from the collection of Dr. Tomasz Niewodczański, a collection of 40 unique maps leads tos through the history of cartography from the 16th to the 18th century, recalling the most eminent artists and publishers - from Andrzej Pograbka, through Wacław Grodecki, Georg Braun, Franz Hogenberg, Joan Bleau, Johann Baptista Homann to Karol H. de Perthées - the royal cartographer Stanisław August.
