- Annual evaluation report of China's towns cultural consumption demand (2013) In 2011, the total growth of the national cultural consumption demand in rural areas went up by 3.68%, which is only 18.33% of the increase for urban areas; the per capita value went up by 8.08%, which is only 57.66% of the increase for urban areas.As measured by per capita value, the annual growth of the cultural consumption in rural areas was significantly lower than the output growth, the residents' income growth and the total consumption growth, also remarkably lower than the savings growth. The disparity of cultural consumption between urban and rural areas widened by 5.49%; the gap of cultural consumption in rural areas among different regions shrank by 2.52% over the previous year. The total cultural consumption in rural areas increased by over 10% in 14 provinces, 10 of which by over 15% and 7 of which over 20%; the per capita value of cultural consumption in rural areas increased by over 10% in 16 provinces, 13 of which by over 15% and 8 of which over 20%. The better growth in approximately half of the provinces was in contrast with the poor growth in the whole country. There was an emerging polarization in the rural cultural consumption demand across the whole country: near-zero growth in Zhejiang and Jilin; negative growth in Guizhou, Shanghai, Heilongjiang, Tibet and Hainan. The growth in national rural cultural consumption demand went down owing to the above. The ranking of the boom evalution of the cultural consumption demand in rural areas across the provinces is as follows: Jiangsu, Qinghai, Gansu ranked the top three in the "2011 rural leaders"; Jiangsu, Shanxi, Heilongjiang ranked the top three in the "1991-2011 rural runner-up"; Qinghai, Shanxi, Jiangsu ranked the top three in the "1995-2011 rural runner-up"; Tibet, Qinghai, Shanxi ranked the top three in the "2000-2011 rural runner-up"; Qinghai, Jiangsu, Ningxia ranked the top three in the "2005-2011 rural runner-up"; Xinjiang, Chongqing, Ningxia ranked the top three in the "2011 annual rural runner-up".
