  Herito: Heritage, Culture, Contemporary: No 32-33 The European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, established by a decision of the Council and Parliament of the European Union, is behind us. The International Cultural Centre has become the Polish coordinator of the program. This double issue of the quarterly "Herito" is intended not so much as a summary of the year, but rather as an extension and consolidation of its most important themes. Cultural heritage is not only the legacy of previous generations, but above all, the foundation of our future. The heritage sector currently employs over 300,000 people across the continent, and 7.8 million European jobs – for example, in tourism and construction – are indirectly linked to it. Research shows that cultural heritage also contributes to improved quality of life, social cohesion, and intercultural dialogue. In this issue, Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik and Joanna Sanetra-Szeliga summarize the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage. Michael Magnier, Marek Świdrak, Zsuzsanna Szijarto, and Mirosław Kindl present the concept and sites designated with the European Heritage Label. Robert Traba and Igor Kąkolewski consider the landscapes of memory of contemporary Europeans. Sergiusz Najar analyzes the impact of changing borders on post-war Europe, and John Tunbridge considers the dilemmas surrounding the development of heritology.
