  • Description

Academic Church of St. Katarina in Zagreb The book about the Academic Church of St. Katarine in Zagreb was created within the scientific program of the Institute for the History of Art. It is a monograph on the most famous Croatian Baroque church (1620–1632), built as part of the former Jesuit complex in Zagreb's Upper Town. The scientific studies of the three authors - Katarina Horvat-Levaj (architecture), Doris Baričević (sculpture) and Mirjana Repanić-Braun (painting, stucco and artistic crafts) - bring the historical development of the church and its rich equipment, researched and valorized in the context of related Croatian and Central European architecture. In addition to the interpretive text, with numerous new findings, documents on the construction and equipment of the church, as well as archival plans and representations from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century, obtained from archives in Croatia, Austria, Hungary and France, were published.
