  The Life of Ivan Meštrović (1883 - 1962 - 2002) Ivan Meštrović was a very controversial artist, both in terms of his life, works and influence on society. No artist in our art studio, and few in the world history of art, has been written as many eulogies and pamphlets as Meštrović. In most of those articles, there were praises or criticisms about Meštrović's life, but his work is discussed less expertly and impartially, with insufficient documentation, analysis, study and evaluation. The motivations for writing many texts about him and his art were ideological, political or religious in nature. Many authors, writing about Meštrović and his works, actually wrote more about themselves and their opinions and judgments. Our, and to a certain extent, foreign art experts were unable to write more extensively and exhaustively about Meštrović and his work precisely because of the ever-current general critical ideological and political judgments and prejudices.
