Architectural Vandalism in Bucharest. 1980-1987" includes a series of documents, articles published in the press and, above all, unpublished photographs of the neighborhood demolished in the 1980s for the construction of the "People's House", the exedra of ministries and the "Victory of Socialism" axis, current Unirii Boulevard. The shocking images presented in «The Image Reader. Architectural Vandalism in Bucharest. 1980-1987» are the indisputable evidence of a historical-architectural catastrophe contemporary to us all, to which we have witnessed with passivity, fear and above all, cowardice towards our own mutilation. It is a tragic, conscious, implacable mutilation of our collective consciousness, a sordid and evil attack on our own city, destiny. In «The Image Reader. Architectural Vandalism in Bucharest. 1980-1987» Bujor Nedelcovici proposes 62 very special photographs, meant to remind us of the great defiant slaughter of the «golden age» in which the «first architect» of the country wanted, in an exacerbated personality cult, another city, through grotesque, inhuman engineering, a bloody urban palimpsest, a «damned space» over which time would lose its own anchorages, dimensions.
