  The foundation for this book rests on the results of field and laboratory research, as well as on museum collections from Eastern Europe. The data on the current taxonomic status, distribution, variability, quantity and biology of the Crimean amphibians is presented. The book addresses questions on the origin of amphibian fauna on the peninsula, including status and history of controversial (questionable) and/or extinct species of the Crimea. Every chapter provides the results of the original studies conducted by the authors during their field trips to the Crimea and adjacent territories and is accompanied with authentic photo materials.

  В основу підготовки книги покладено результати польових і лабораторних досліджень, опрацювання колекцій найбільших зоологічних музеїв Східної Європи, представлено дані щодо сучасного таксономічного статусу, поширення, мінливості, місць перебування, чисельності і особливостей біології земноводних Криму. В книзі також обговорюються питання суперечливих і/або зниклих амфібій цієї території. Кожен розділ базується, як правило, на результатах оригінальних досліджень та особистій участі авторів в експедиціях по Криму і сусідніх регіонах і супроводжується оригінальними фотографіями.
