  Documents of the Ukrainian Cossacks of the 16th - First Half of the 17th Centuries: Universals, Correspondence, Agreements, Oaths: Part IV, Volume 2 The book collects documents from the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks. Without a “popular presentation” and long explanations — mostly the texts of the sources themselves. Here are printed letters, universals, glades, oaths, instructions, agreements and other papers related to the Zaporozhian Army and the Cossack officers. Some of the documents are presented in Polish, Latin and German, but there is a translation into Ukrainian next to them. In total, the collection contains 370 documents. Of these, 178 are of Cossack origin. The rest relate to negotiations, commissions, correspondence with government officials and various cases where the Cossack side is mentioned. Most of the letters and universals are here. There are also instructions to envoys to the Sejm, texts of oaths, protests, receipts, various agreements and conditions of commissions with royal commissioners. The book is more likely made for working with sources. This is not “easy reading” and not a retelling of history. You open it and you see documents almost without embellishment.

  У книзі зібрані документи з історії українського козацтва. Без «популярного викладу» і довгих пояснень — переважно самі тексти джерел. Тут надруковані листи, універсали, ґлейти, присяги, інструкції, угоди та інші папери, пов’язані з Військом Запорозьким і козацькою старшиною. Частина документів подана польською, латинською та німецькою мовами, але поруч є переклад українською. Усього в збірнику 370 документів. Із них 178 — козацького походження. Решта стосуються переговорів, комісій, листування з урядовцями та різних справ, де згадується козацька сторона. Найбільше тут листів і універсалів. Є також інструкції посланцям на сейми, тексти присяг, протестації, квити, різні домовленості й умови комісій з королівськими комісарами. Книга зроблена скоріше для роботи з джерелами. Це не «легке читання» і не переказ історії. Відкриваєш — і бачиш документи майже без прикрас.
