  Brush: Fantasy on the Subject of Biography Johann Georg Pinsel (? - autumn 1762) is the most prominent sculptor of the Rococo era in Ukrainian lands. Most of his artistic heritage was destroyed during the Soviet era, but even what has come down to us is impressive. In particular, the sculptures that adorn the most beautiful Ukrainian town hall in Buchach in the Ternopil region and the Cathedral of St. George in Lviv. Pinsel's original expressive style was far ahead of the development of contemporary art and became a world sensation in the 20th century. Meanwhile, the master's biography is a complete mystery. It is not known when and where he was born, what his real surname was, who he learned the craft from, why he came to the then Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Even the date of his death is an assumption of historians and art historians. However, the life of a brilliant artist is inseparable from his creations. And this book is an attempt to tell about him by reading what he created.

  Йоганн Георг Пінзель (? — осінь 1762) — найвидатніший скульптор епохи рококо на українських теренах. Більшість його художнього спадку знищено в радянські часи, та навіть те, що дійшло до нас, вражає. Зокрема, скульптури, що прикрашають найгарнішу українську ратушу в Бучачі на Тернопільщині та собор Святого Юра у Львові. Самобутній експресивний стиль Пінзеля набагато випередив розвиток тогочасного мистецтва та став світовою сенсацією у ХХ столітті. Тим часом біографія майстра — суцільна загадка. Невідомо, коли він народився і де саме, яким було його справжнє прізвище, і в кого він навчався ремесла, чому прибув у тогочасну Річ Посполиту. Навіть дата смерті — це припущення істориків та мистецтвознавців. Проте життя геніального митця невіддільне від його творінь. І ця книжка — спроба розповісти про нього, читаючи ним створене.
