Discourse of Masculinity in Ivan Franko’s Prose: A Monograph The monograph provides a comprehensive understanding of various manifestations of masculinity in the prose of Ivan Franko, taking into account factors of the psychobiography of the author himself and the socio-cultural context of the period of his work (the second half of the 19th century - the beginning of the 20th century). For the first time, the elements of the gender analysis of the masculinity of the characters in Frank's prose were determined and theoretically substantiated, the socio-cultural roles of male characters inherent in the time of writing of the works were analyzed, on the basis of which their typology was created. The parameters of the analysis of the character creation technique of Frankov's male images from the point of view of psycholinguistics, the system of interpersonal relations and communication, mythologem and archetypes, description of physicality have been expanded.
The monograph will be useful to everyone who is interested in the issues of gender as one of the literary categories and the discourse of masculinity in Ukrainian literature and artistic work of I. Franko.
У монографії здійснено комплексне осмислення різних виявів маскулінності у прозі Івана Франка з урахуванням чинників психобіографії самого автора та соціокультурного контексту періоду його творчості (друга половина ХІХ – початок ХХ ст.). Уперше визначено й теоретично обґрунтовано елементи гендерного аналізу маскулінності персонажів у Франковій прозі, проаналізовано притаманні для часу написання творів соціокультурні ролі чоловічих персонажів, на основі чого створено їх типологію. Розширено параметри аналізу характерокреаційної техніки Франкових чоловічих образів із погляду психолінгвістики, системи міжособистісних взаємин і комунікації, міфологем та архетипів, опису тілесності.
Монографія стане в пригоді усім, хто цікавиться питаннями гендеру як однієї з літературознавчих категорій та дискурсом маскулінності в українській літературі й художній творчості І. Франка.
