Ostap Vyshnya: Unhappy Life: Documentary Biography This book is a real chronicle of the unhappy life of Ostap Vyshny (1889-1956), the most popular humorist in Ukraine to this day, who served Stalin's "ten years" in concentration camps.
Its compiler, the author of the introductory article and notes, the famous literary critic and archivist Serhii Galchenko, as early as 1989, examined the archives of the Ukhtpechlag of the then Komi of the ASSR and collected materials that are being published in such a complete volume for the first time. The basis of the work were the documents of the investigative case for the years 1933-1934 and a complex of archival materials from the two-volume case-form on Ostap Vyshnia, which contains reports of more than fifty secret agents of special agencies for the years 1922-1955. In the course of the investigation, which was conducted using methods of physical and psychological pressure, Ostap Vyshnya admitted "guilt": allegedly he was supposed to personally kill the party leader of the republic P. P. Postyshev, for which he was punished with ten years of imprisonment in special regime camps.
The book presents in chronological order the records from a unique document of that era - the camp diary of Ostap Vyshny - and his letters from the concentration camps where the writer had to stay. These are unique masterpieces of literary creativity, often filled not with traditional Ukrainian, but with the black humor of a suffering humorist.
Some literary works of Ostap Vyshny are also published, which caused a flurry of vulgar sociological criticism accusing the writer of bourgeois nationalism and even fascism, as well as letters and memories of his relatives and those people with whom the humorist sat in the same cell or was in the same concentration camp.
Thirty years in the making, this book is a testament to the system's struggle against artists, the most talented of whom were repressed and destroyed.
Ця книга - справжній літопис невеселого життя найпопулярнішого й донині в Україні гумориста Остапа Вишні (1889-1956), який відбував сталінську «десятирічку» в концтаборах.
Її упорядник, автор вступної статті й приміток, відомий літературознавець і архівіст Сергій Гальченко ще в 1989 році обстежив архіви Ухтпечлагу тодішньої Комі АРСР і зібрав матеріали, які вперше друкуються в такому повному обсязі. Основою праці стали документи слідчої справи за 1933-1934 роки та комплекс архівних матеріалів із двотомної справи-формуляра на Остапа Вишню, в якій зібрані донесення понад півсотні секретних агентів спецорганів за 1922-1955 роки. В процесі слідства, яке велося методами фізичного і психологічного натиску, Остап Вишня визнав «провину»: нібито він мав особисто вбити партійного лідера республіки П. П. Постишева, за що був покараний десятирічним ув’язненням у таборах особливого режиму.
У книзі в хронологічній послідовності подаються записи із унікального документа тієї епохи - табірного щоденника Остапа Вишні - та його листи із концтаборів, де довелося перебувати письменнику. Це своєрідні шедеври літературної творчості, часто наповнені не традиційним українським, а чорним гумором страждальця-гумориста.
Публікуються і деякі літературні твори Остапа Вишні, які викликали шквал вульгарно- соціологічної критики із звинуваченнями письменника у буржуазному націоналізмі й навіть у фашизмі, а також листи та спогади його рідних і тих людей, з якими гуморист сидів в одній камері чи перебував в одному концтаборі.
Ця книга, що творилася упродовж тридцяти років, є свідченням боротьби системи із митцями, найталановитіші з яких зазнавали репресій і знищення.
