• Description

The Vanquished Demon: Russian Culture of the 20th Century The content of the project is exhausted, it has come to a logical and inevitable self-destruction. That for which the Lord tolerated it has completely gone, left or simply died out of Russia. This means that the author has to deal with a completed process - this is the fundamental novelty of the proposed study. Only a completed process is accessible to study: the optimal time has come for the analysis of Russian culture today, which is confirmed by the world's increased interest in it. Isn't the ultimate goal of all literature -- biographical, in particular -- to understand why it ended the way it did. The new book by Dmitry Bykov is bitter to the point of cruelty, but at the same time so lively, so passionate and hot that one wonders whether the author himself fully believes in its main postulate about the death of Russian culture.
