  Catalogue of Monuments of Art in Poland: Volume VIII, Book 19: Kock and Surroundings This volume of the Catalog of Art Monuments in Poland is unusual in that it is devoted solely to the monuments of a small area – the Kock area. This volume, the result of a comprehensive inventory, documentation, and study, conducted from scratch, is a necessary complement to the discussion of this area's historic heritage. As with the volumes published in recent years devoted to the districts of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, we have significantly expanded both the chronological and typological criteria for selecting objects. The initial selection of material was based on the records of the Voivodeship Office for the Protection of Monuments and the municipal register of monuments, but during the course of the work, we managed to discover and identify additional objects. The most valuable discovery appears to be the discovery of eighteenth-century grotesque wall paintings in a room under the palace bridge, which were not recorded in the conservation office materials. The authors of this volume have attempted to present (including in an illustrative album showing the current and archival state) elements characteristic of the cultural landscape of the area, such as industrial architecture, associated primarily with local estates, and the avenues connecting farms that once belonged to the Kock estate. Furthermore, for the first time in the Catalog of Monuments, the introduction was supplemented with a full scholarly framework in the form of bibliographic footnotes.
