Johann Jacob Eybelwieser the Younger (1667-1744): A Baroque Painter from Wrocław Baroque painting in Silesia is a phenomenon that never ceases to intrigue. Our new book "Johann Jacob Eybelwieser the Younger. Wrocław Painter of the Baroque Period" presents the world with the figure of Johann Jacob Eybelwieser the Younger, considered one of the leading and most prolific painters active in 18th-century Wrocław. Eybelwieser's life and the organization of his workshop are reminiscent of the case of a great master of an earlier generation - Michael Willmann, known as the Silesian Rembrandt. Being an artist of the late Baroque required not only artistic talent, but also the instinct of a seasoned diplomat. The career development strategy of the artist, consciously building his position in Wrocław society, had to take into account maneuvering between commissions from Protestant burghers and influential Catholic orders. Thanks to a multi-faceted analysis of the painting workshop and taking into account the commercial context, we can better understand the economic aspects of artistic production, including the rarely discussed issues of marketing and personal branding.
