Suddenly, a teenager, one of the eighth-graders of the Paradise school, disappears without a trace. The search leads to nothing, the versions of the disappearance multiply. This spring, the town, its mayor and many residents will have to answer the question for themselves: has that old war really ended, or is the final battle still ahead.
