Description
- Mao’s Poetry Biography The twenty-volume "Biography of Mao's Poems", written by Mao Heng in the Western Han Dynasty and Zheng Xuan's Notes in the Eastern Han Dynasty, is the first complete annotated version of the "Book of Songs" in existence. From the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Han Dynasty, the Five Classics were mainly passed down through oral instruction from teachers and students. It was only in the Western Han Dynasty that the Five Classics were recorded by classics students, forming a relatively fixed text. In the process of teaching, respective family methods have also been formed, so the texts and annotations are also different. For example, Tai Chi has Chen Style Tai Chi, Yang Style Tai Chi, etc. There were four main annotators of the Book of Songs in the Han Dynasty, namely "Lu Shi", "Qi Shi", "Han Shi", and "Mao Shi". Mao Shi became an official school in the Eastern Han Dynasty and became more popular after Zheng Xuan's annotation. The three families of Lu, Qi and Han gradually disappeared. By the Tang Dynasty, the "Biography of Mao's Poems" was the only one in the world. The texts of the "Book of Songs" that we read today are almost all copies of the "Biography of Mao's Poems".
