  Language Is The Key Language is the key with which Milan Šelj writes verses with an invisible force in the present collection. The karst soil in which the poems are embedded is seemingly inviting, but many traps are hidden in the undergrowth. In the first part, the confessor surrenders to rural intimacy, to the embrace of lovers, inviting them to relax and enjoy him quietly, until together with him, in all their transience, they fade to the skin, to the bones . The lover is surrounded by wild animals and dream scenes of invisible ladders, ashes underfoot , as well as threats of social violence that tries to force itself between the two from all sides. Šelj recognizes the aggression of the environment, which he fiercely opposes and does not give in even at the price of a slap. At the same time, he invites everyone from the margins to march with him: In a straight line and not in a zigzag or vicious circle.
