• Description

The Lesser Evil Includes an afterword by Dmitry Bykov. Relatives of the murdered tycoon are throwing a multi-million dollar business to a figurehead, a petty trader named Abbas. Part of this business is controlled by special services. Under their pressure, the unsuspecting Abbas buys several cars, one of which provokes an explosion in the Hammer Center, the other on Novy Arbat ... This is how the story begins, which at the same time looks like a crime detective, a spy novel and an absurdist drama. Here is a small person who has information that can turn the life of an entire country upside down. And political games, similar to a chess game, where the players try not so much to outplay as to "betray" each other. And the opposition of the elites, which brought to the surface "an inconspicuous figure in gray, with watery blue eyes and a tan of unclear origin." In the new novel by Yuli Dubov, The Lesser Evil (a continuation of The Big Ration, published in Freedom Letters), one can trace how the track was calculated and created, along which the country rushed to the catastrophic finale, sincerely believing that it was moving away from the threat.
