  Margins and Boundaries: Social Critique in Interwar Lithuania The entire fabric of the publication is combined with visual and documentary material collected in cooperation with 11 Lithuanian museums and other art institutions, libraries, archives and artists' families. What kind of portrait of the society of the Republic of Lithuania (1918–1940) did interwar artists create? What uncomfortable social issues did they capture in the works? How do people's social routines and their experiences change in the face of significant changes? This interdisciplinary publication offers to look into these questions and the hitherto incompletely researched phenomenon of social criticism in interwar Lithuania. The main focus is on the 20th century. 3-4 dec. for the creative heritage of prominent and mature Lithuanian artists. For most of them, reflections on historical time and everyday life became more and more important, and some of them began to talk quite openly about the uncomfortable social problems of that time in their work: unemployment, poverty, social and gender inequality, exclusion, the "moral" decline of society, etc.
