Samostani muških redova u Banjalučkoj biskupiji = Convents of male orders in the diocese of Banja Luka
Convents of Male Orders in the Diocese of Banja Luka The monograph Convents of Male Orders in the Diocese of Banja Luka researches the development of the architecture of convents belonging to diocesan communities, namely Franciscans in convents in Petrićevac in Banja Luka, Jajce and Gorica in Livno, and Trappists in the abbey in Delibašino Selo in Banja Luka. In addition to the convents themselves, the work also includes other contextualized buildings, primarily the belonging churches. The main sources for research were, in addition to field findings, archival material, then original project documentation, and rare monographs and scientific papers published in locally and abroad. Methodologically, the work on the monograph was conducted in accordance with standard historiographical and methods for studying the history and development of architecture. In addition to the general historical context of the origin of each of the convents and its stages of development, the focus of the paper is on the presentation of architecture in all periods of existence of individual sites. The history of architecture has been documented, evaluated and critically valorised in appropriate historical contexts of origin. A review of the accompanying art, the relationship to the immediate environment and the impact on the social image of the place in which they are located is presented. The monograph shows the quality of architectural production at each of the locations, in continuity, from the time of the end of Turkish rule to present era. The engagement of leading architects for the design of convents and churches speaks in favour of the value of the researched buildings and the influence on the general image not only of sacred architecture, but of society in general, thus overcoming the borders of the Diocese to which they belong.
