Architecture and Czech Politics From the 19th to the 21st Centuries: Critical Exhibition Catalogue This exhibition catalogue is the final part of the UMPRUM five-year research project of the same name, implemented by pedagogues, graduates and doctoral students in the field of art theory and history. The research follows architecture and politics in their mutual, bilateral relations. He views architecture not only as a passive means of national and state representation, but also as an active component that co-shapes the social and political sphere. The current Czech Republic is a small country with ten million inhabitants, clearly defined geographically - especially in its western part - by the area of the Czech basin surrounded by border mountains. It seems that even politically today it is a clearly anchored part of Central Europe. However, the modern history of this area is very complicated. Over the past 150 years, Czech politics has been shaped in the environment of various state departments. It thus went through many fundamental twists and turns that changed its spatial framework and state structure.
