  Poems and Short Stories The trilogy of key poetry collections Stuck Black Icons (1965), Pages from the Diary (1968) and Samosoud (1968), in which Jan Zábrana captured the feelings of insecurity and futility in the post-February period with a crudely suggestive expression, is expanded by the unfinished collection of "soliloquies" Wall of Memories from 1969 —1971, succinctly summarizing the poet's intimate, creative and political traumas. Elements of autobiography, fragmentaryness, mundanity and skepticism, the documentary environment of the urban periphery with factories and pubs, as well as an effort to unstylized recording of overheard conversations or an improvised flow of one's own thoughts bring together Zábran's "witness" prose from the fifties (the short stories Nohy, Psovod Gerža, V noci u pece, Kurevská zima, Hell of Money and Through the Imperial Meadow...) with works by Bohumil Hrabal, Jiří Kolář, Josef Škvorecký or Josef Jedlička.
