  From the History of Schools and Educational Institutions The author deals with church colleges and educational institutions in Dalmatia from cathedral and monastic schools to seminaries, grammar schools, lyceums, theological colleges and institutes, colleges and kindergartens through different periods and state systems (Venetian, French, Austrian…). At the same time, he talks about parallel processes and circumstances such as the Ottoman invasion near Dalmatian cities, but also about the fruitful influences of the Illyrian College in Loreto (or later the Croatian College of St. Jerome in Rome), in which cadets implemented spirituality and acquired knowledge. . Numerous individuals stand out among them. By processing church colleges and educational institutions, we obtained a chronological overview that included the painstaking reconstruction of various educational institutions with the context and founders, the program framework of teaching and monitoring progress, faculty and cadets, associated buildings and material constraints. The author based his work on extensive archival research in Rome, Split, Zadar and Zagreb.
