  • Description

Hlahol Writing in Bohemia During the Luxembourg Period The publication represents the first synthetic treatment of the history of Glaholian writing, which was created in the second half of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century in the Na Slovanech monastery in Prague, later known as Emmaus. In terms of content, the work is devoted to Glagolitic texts in Church Slavonic and Old Czech. An extensive study summarizes Croatian sources of Emmaus Glagolitic writing under the Luxembourgers, especially during the reign of Charles IV. The main goal of the work is the philological analysis of the hitherto neglected Glagolitic sources in Church Slavonic, which are directly related to the literary activity of the Prague Emmaus (breviaries, missals and other liturgical monuments). Attention is also paid to Old Bohemian sources in Glaholic and the knowledge of the Glaholic script in Bohemia in the 14th and 15th centuries outside the Na Slovanech monastery. Other cultural contacts of the Czech and Croatian countries of the given period will also be reconstructed (spread of the cult of Czech saints in Croatia, sources of Emmaus glaholism, Croatian translations of religious literature based on Czech models).
