  Hodegetries of Krakow 1400-1450: I This publication, dedicated to the memory of Professor Jerzy Gadomski, begins, in accordance with his will, a five-volume study devoted to the genesis of form and the shaping of the image of Krakow-type Hodegetria—remarkable for its recurrence in an unchanged form over the past 600 years. "Prolegomena to the study of Krakow-type Hodegetria paintings," published in 2014, constitutes only an introduction to an extremely interesting topic that has inspired collaborative research by conservators, art historians, and archivists for decades. This volume contains original texts in which the bibliographical record, footnote layout, and in-text references have been preserved in accordance with the authors' wishes. This format seems to reflect, in part, the atmosphere that accompanied the final year of compiling the material – numerous discussions, sometimes disputes over the final content of individual chapters, the conclusions drawn, or the scope of archival research.
