  Strategy and Policy for the Development of a Sustainable Transportation System in China This work was prepared with the help of the Task Force on Sustainable Transportation. The Task Force has conducted thorough studies since its creation in 2003, focusing on economic sustainability, social sustainability, and environmental sustainability of transportation systems, as well as put forward strategy and policy options in order to implement the sustainable transportation strategy called for by the Chinese government. This work discusses the current status of sustainable transportation in China, new requirements for sustainable transportation, an analysis of the enabling conditions for sustainable transportation development, lessons and experiences from abroad, China's sustainable transportation strategy, and policy proposals.
