  Stories of (Un)Common Professions: Czech Society in the Period of So-Called Normalization and Transformation This collective monograph presents the life stories and memories of men and women working in several seemingly “ordinary” professions. Through interpretive studies, the book captures the experiences of members of the so-called “uniformed services” (the military, security/police, and firefighters), employees (primarily women) working in the service sector (hospitality, retail, and healthcare), as well as in the so-called “liberal professions” (here exemplified by visual artists). Also included are members of economic management and, to some extent, cultural management, and, last but not least, those whose lives are connected to the agricultural sector and the rural world.

  Kolektivní monografie představuje osudy a vzpomínky mužů a žen vykonávajících několik zdánlivě „obyčejných“ profesí. V podobě interpretačních studií kniha zachycuje zkušenosti příslušníků tzv. silových složek (armáda, bezpečnost/policie, hasiči), zaměstnanců (především žen) pracujících ve službách (pohostinství, maloobchod, zdravotnictví) i v tzv. svobodných profesích (zde na příkladu výtvarných umělců a umělkyň). Stranou nezůstali ani příslušníci hospodářského a dílem také kulturního managementu a v neposlední řadě ti, jejichž osudy jsou spojeny s agrárním sektorem a světem venkova.
