China Geoparks: Lushan Lushan Global Geopark is located in northern Jiangxi Province, bordering the Yangtze River to the north and Poyang Lake to the east. The park covers 548 square kilometers and has a core scenic area home to over 10,000 people. The summit reaches an average altitude of 1,200 meters. Inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1996, it became China's first "World Cultural Landscape." In 2004, it became one of the first members of the Global Geopark Network. Lushan is renowned for its multi-genetic, complex landscape, a typical feature of eastern mainland China, consisting of Quaternary glacial relics, horst-type fault-block structures, and metamorphic core-complex tectonic remains. Its landforms are closely intertwined with its flora, culture, and history. The area boasts beautiful scenery, lush forests, cascading streams, canyons, peaks, and waterfalls. Exotic villas of diverse styles abound, and diverse religions coexist harmoniously. Its uninterrupted history and rich heritage of both Chinese and Western cultures have earned it the title of "Holy Mountain of Humanity."
