From the catalogue: "Drawing the people from photographs, some of which are so old that the images are fading, being on the verge of recognition, these drawing executed in middle size format (grandmother, mother, sister …) from the serial Sonic Youth, document an attempt to become intimate with those who are emotionally close to the artist, regardless of the level of intimate closeness. The close-ups of faces, without a trace of background, incline towards full contact with the very being of the intimate image. There is no sentimentality in them what so ever, as there is the lack of a hyperrealist distance - at the other end of possibility. It seems that the material used – the kind of paper, pencils, crayons, pastels and the very modest presentation of these drawings have all contributed to them being very convincing..."
