  The Heritage of Jewish Minsk Incredibly, but true, from the middle of the 19th century until the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Minsk was a predominantly Jewish city - 52% of the population of the capital were Jews, this was the largest community in the city. Today, there is almost nothing to remember about the pre-war and even more so pre-revolutionary Jewish heritage, the number of Jews has decreased from more than half of the city's population to the level of statistical error, and old Jewish schools and synagogues have been closed or converted into civilian facilities.
